Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, is one of the most dedicated men in not just show business, but in fitness and health. If you’ve seen any of his crazy training sessions, you’ll know how seriously the 46-year-old takes staying in shape (the man brings around his own private gym wherever he goes).
Training With Chains: How The Rock Uses Chains In His Gym Workout And Why You Should Too
With good training comes good nutrition, and while he sticks to a good diet, The Rock isn’t one to shy away from some epic cheat meals. Just take a look at some of them (sushi is a common theme).
But recently, The Rock has revealed an interesting tidbit about something he’s been eating since he was 14 – over 30 years ago. It’s not huge amounts of steak for a big dose of protein, or even a giant stack of pancakes for that all important post-workout carb refeed. It’s something you can get here in Singapore: chicken rice.
Well, not technically Hainanese chicken rice, but plain grilled chicken and white rice. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.
“…what IS funny is that even back then when I was 14yrs old, my daily diet was EXACTLY THE SAME as it is today, eatin’ the same shit – plain grilled chicken and white rice,” says the Hollywood and WWE superstar.
And it’s a solid meal choice too. It’s plain grilled chicken so you know it’s healthier and lower in calories than something fried or marinated. Plus, assuming it’s chicken breast, a cooked 99g skinless portion is only about 165 calories and 31 grams of protein.
And although white rice has gotten a bad rep, it’s still one of the quickest ways to refuel after a hard workout session, especially how hard The Rock works.
Some things change, but some things remain the same. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?
