    “I was involved in every step in the process. From choosing the name and designing the packaging to selecting the ingredients and shooting the campaign.

    I worked closely with a perfumer who guided me through the different notes and ingredients, but the final decision is always up to me.

    This time I also got some of my closest friends involved in the process, including my agent Jorge Mendes and my best friend Ricardo [Regufe].

    It was great to have their opinions and to bounce ideas around together. They know me so well that they helped me create a fragrance that has a lot of personal meaning – I’m really proud of it.”

    “I drew upon a lot of personal memories creating The Private Edition, not just in selecting ingredients but in all creative aspects of developing the fragrance.

    Fragrance bottle design can often be hard as there’s limitless options, but the bottle was always going to be blue; it’s one of my favourite colours and reminds me of growing up near the ocean in Madeira.

    Warm copper tones were also added to create something unique and different.

    All of these small details led me to create something that is very personal – there is a story behind every decision that we made.”

    “This fragrance is very personal to me – that’s why I called it The Private Edition.

    I wanted to celebrate the launch in a unique way and really show how involved I was in creating the scent.

    Every creative decision was made by me and my team, so the Private Members Club gives people an insight into that process and why we made certain decisions – why The Private Edition is the perfect name, why there’s a beautiful blue bottle with copper accents and so on.

    Creating an online members club is a fun way to give people access to all of these behind the scenes moments and also to introduce them to some of the people that helped me create the scent.

    For example, my best friend Ricardo [Regufe] and my agent Jorge [Mendes] are there throughout the process, so you’ll see what it’s like to be part of my team – lots of hard work but a lot of laughs also!”
