Historically, it’s been proven that beards are powerful. Sure, they’re also kind of disgusting without the proper maintenance or care, but a beard can change a person’s face, especially when shaped correctly. With great power comes great responsibility.
For celebrities, letting facial hair work its magic can mean utter disaster (looking at you, Chris Daughtry’s chinstrap), but for Paul Rudd, the right beard has proven to be ideal, sending the hearts of Twitter users aflutter.
The actor recently debuted a new look in the trailer for the upcoming film Ideal Home, which stars Rudd as one half of a gay couple who suddenly must care for a child claiming to be Rudd’s co-star Steve Coogan’s grandson.
So, just to be clear, this man:
Became this man:
All thanks to some facial hair and a strategic haircut.
Once Twitter users spotted Rudd’s scruffy new look, they immediately expressed their approval and lauded his glow up.
It’s been hours since I’ve seen this look on Paul Rudd and I can’t seem to think about anything else pic.twitter.com/I8NqVnS0pJ

Though it has yet to be seen if memes and love will result in sales at the box office when the movie, which was shot in 2016, hits theaters in June 2018, the reactions do further prove past scientific findings in favor of bearded men.
According to a 2013 study on female perception of facial hair as it pertains to male attractiveness, a majority of over 500 respondents said that stubble conveys “maturity and manliness.” In fact, participants said that the “5-day” post-shave patchiness was their least favorite look and ranked men with light facial hair as the least attractive.
Growing and maintaining a beard can be tough, but once you decide on a length, learn more about maintenance, and clean up your style, your glow up will probably impress someone. Not necessarily Twitter, at least your mom will most likely approve.
If you mess it up, don’t worry. There are plenty of simple fixes to a bad beard before you have to throw in the towel and give in to the big chop. Everybody makes mistakes. Even Paul Rudd has been there thanks to Our Idiot Brother, a film you probably don’t remember. Point proven.
Remember: great power, great responsibility. Once your new beard takes the world by storm, just pull a Paul Rudd and use it for good.
