THEY SAY: The Nike LunarEclipse+ is a shoe which delivers premium cushioning, comfort and and support that constantly adapts to your stride for a plush, smooth ride through footstrikes. This trainer combines on-demand support, plush cushioning and total comfort. It is ideal for all gait types, from underpronators to overpronators and features the Dynamic Support system, which adapts to each gait type and provides the appropriate amount of runner-specific support and cushioning – Nike Running.com.
WE SAY: The shoe performs as it claims, with the Dynamic Support system living up to its reputation of providing adequate cushioning and support with each step. The impact of each footstrike is barely felt as the system which is made of Lunarlon foam absorbs the shock well. Lunarlon is Nike’s latest cushioning technology that is designed to maximise stability, support and cushioning. This makes the system excellent for heel-toe runners, as the super pliable cushioning caters well to them.
For runners who are used to a midfoot strike, there may be some difference in the experience as less energy is available for propulsion when most of it is absorbed by the cushion. All in all, the shoe still performs well, and is worth a go, as the Dynamic Support provides enough support for most runner profiles.
Fit/Comfort: 8.5/10 — The shoe is comfortable and ‘breathes’ well.
Cushioning: 8.5/10 — The Dynamic Support System does a good job stabilising the foot and handling the impact of each footstrike.
Stability: 8.5/10 — See Cushioning.
Design/Aesthetics: 7.5/10 —It looks decent for a run, but probably give it a miss if you are heading for a night on the town.
