There are shoes built for performance and speed, and then there’s the Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit. Equipped with their signature Flyknit upper, and inspired by the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%, you’re about go even faster than you thought possible.
Nike’s Zoom Fly Flyknit was designed and built for pure performance, and the materials they’ve chosen ensure that it hits the mark in terms of both looks and speed. By marrying Flyknit and React technology, they’ve spawned one of their lightest shoes ever. But does it feel as good as it looks? We took it out for a spin to see if we could go faster than fast.
The Zoom Fly Flyknit stand out in the looks department thanks to the stark contrast between its black upper and distinct orange Nike Swoosh, along with the striking pink outsole. Its all-round sleek appearance means you’ll look at home burning rubber on the road or hanging out on the streets.
CONSTRUCTION & FIT
The snug Flyknit upper fits true to size as it contours to the shape of your foot. If you’ve got wider feet, you may want to consider going up one size. Thanks to the React foam, there’s a substantial amount of cushioning, especially in the heel region. Not only are the shoes built for speed, they’re built for comfort as well.
True to its design philosophy, the shoes feel extremely light and running in them feels amazing. On longer distances, the breathable Flyknit is a game changer that helps keep your feet cool and comfortable.
Much like the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% worn by the fastest marathon runner ever, Eliud Kipchoge, the shoe has a full-length carbon-fibre plate in the sole paired with React foam. This gives a distinctive feeling of propulsion when you’re on the move.
Compared to the Nike Epic React Flyknit, the Zoom Fly Flyknit is certainly more responsive. Heel, midfoot or forefoot strikers should have no issues running in them thanks to its neutral profile.
There’s no question that these shoes are made for performance training and racing. If your aim is to go faster than ever, look no further. But if you need something for the daily grind, you may want to consider other options like the Nike Epic React Flyknit, Nike Air Pegasus 35 or Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo.
