What We Say
The sleek metal and glass facade overlooks Tanjong Pagar Road’s bustling eateries and bridal boutiques on one side and the CBD on another, but inside, the spacious and lofty lobby provides a refreshingly relaxed ambience for checking in.
There’s no spa, but you can spend the day stretched out by the outdoor pool after a swim or a workout at the fitness studio. Or retreat to the Carlton Club Lounge for evening cocktails. This 386-room high-rise hotel on the downtown fringe is also within striking distance to some of Singapore’s best bars and restaurants at the Duxton and Ann Siang neighbourhoods – perfect for a romantic night out.
Naturally, the flashest options are the top-floor Carlton Suites, with almost panoramic views and 64 square metres of space Nonetheless, most rooms have drool-worthy city views alongside a bathtub, a king-size posturepedic bed and 40-inch flatscreen TV with pay-per-view movies.
Guestrooms a modern and spacious, starting at 32 square metres for the Deluxe Room. And the Valentine’s Day packages come with a Molton Brown gift set that you can immediately put to good use.
Much have been said about the tantalising and alluring buffet spread at Plate, a restaurant on the third storey of the hotel. But at the Lobby level, Tuxedo is an elegant coffeehouse that serves European-style pastries, gourmet waffles, sandwiches and quality coffee. You can compare it to being a hidden gem – albeit being tucked away at the corner of the lobby space – but far from its supposed entity as a spot for chatter, it’s an adequate site to fill your tummies during lunch.
When night falls, head up to the Graffiti Sky Bar, a rooftop bar that’s decked out with cushy bean bags, high tables and bar stools. As you would have expected, the night view is simply stunning.
This sleek city hotel suits couples as much as families and businessmen, with no expensive artworks or ornaments to put your credit card at risk.
