Grandpa was on to something. After-dinner drinks are delicious, far lower in calories than a cheesecake, and may even aid in digestion (maybe). Start with these digestifs.
Armagnac, Brandy, Cognac
In general, brandy tastes like whisky but is more fruit-forward, says Alastair England, wine director for the restaurant group Zuma USA. If you’re more into Spanish wine than whisky, choose brandy. If you enjoy more refined brown spirits, try cognac. And if you prefer richer, more robust whisky and can find (and afford) armagnac, get it, as it can be hard to find. Add a splash of water to open up the flavour, says Juyoung Kang, bartender at the Dorsey in the Venetian Resort and Hotel in Las Vegas.
