For those who’ve been following the NBA Playoffs this year, you’ve probably just found out that the NBA Front Office has elected not to suspend Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green for game 4 of the conference finals, following his vicious kick to the groin of Thunder center Steven Adams. Instead, Green will be hit with what amounts to a slap on the wrist: an upgrade from a flagrant-1 foul to a flagrant-2, and a $25,000 fine. For reference, Green made close to $50,000 for every quarter of basketball this season.
With the NBA taking such a lenient stand on dangerous and unsportsmanlike behaviour from its players, it’s hardly a surprise that the frequency of such events is increasing.
