Cell phones and 3G/4G networks have also been getting a bad rap, as some researchers have linked them to a host of health problems, including infertility. Like Wi-fi, mobile phones and 4G networks function using electromagnetic waves. And studies have shown that e-waves can lead to higher levels of free radicals in sperm samples, decreasing the quality of those swimmers. “Current data on infertility and cell phones clearly suggests that men should keep cell phones out of their pockets,” says Dr Karen Boyle, a clinical instructor of urology at George Washington University School of Medicine.
Exposure to high temperatures in saunas and hot tubs can heat things up down there, too. And if the temperature in your testicles gets too high, it can kill sperm and interfere with its production. Dr Boyle advises staying away from them if you’re trying for a child.
Considering laptops can get hot enough to burn legs, guys might want to keep them away from their crown jewels, too. There’s evidence that the heat from a laptop can raise scrotal temperature, which, again, may interfere with sperm production.
