Need some workout inspiration? As usual, The Rock’s got you covered. The actor recently took to Instagram to show off a small segment of his Monday pump day, proving once again that he’s not only the champ of upper body workouts, but that he absolutely smashes leg day.
The actor posted a video of his workout he did just before heading out of the country to promote the Jumanji sequel. “Solid leg training prior my flight to France. Good to break thru some personal barriers seeing improvements,” he captioned the post, which consisted of a set of squats with a resistance band. It’s unclear how heavy the weight was, but based on the way he was pumping out the squats and allusion to breaking “personal barriers,” we can only guess it was pretty damn heavy. This is The Rock we’re talking about, after all.
The guy who inspires all of us to head to the gym then went on to explain his extensive history with lower body injuries, and why leg day is particularly important to him. “Over my career I’ve had 5 knee surgeries, Achilles rupture, emergency triple hernia surgery and tore my quad and adductor off my pelvis. Fun stuff,” he said. “It’s why my leg training is always my most important.”
Even more reason to add in the resistance band, an easy way to strengthen one’s squat. The Rock is an apparent fan of the mini-band, and he showed us how he uses it for barbell hip thrusts earlier this year. It’s the one leg-day exercise he says he never skips.
The Rock finished the post with a little jab at Jumanji co-star Kevin Hart, adding in, “And I’m positive just one of my legs is 3xs bigger than @kevinhart4real.” Damn. Gauntlet is thrown. No word on Hart’s response, which will be a tough one because, well, The Rock’s kind of got a point. No offense, Kevin Hart, but have you seen The Rock’s tree trunks?
