When it comes to getting a workout in and staying on track with your goals, something is always better than nothing. Skip just one planned workout and you significantly increase the odds of failing and missing short on your set goals.
Travel is one of the most common culprits. It’s so easy to blame missed workouts on not having a nearby gym to go to, or being on the road (or in a bus, literally).
The truth is, if you’re traveling by car, you really have no excuse to not get your sweat on for the day. While body-weight workouts are great, almost anything can be turned into workout equipment, and a car provides a plethora of opportunities to hit your full body.
To demonstrate what we’re talking about, we caught up with Bari Studio’s Madelaine O’Connor, who has a couple of go-to moves for you to add to your road-trip repertoire. While getting out the car to stretch your legs is certainly advised on lengthy trips, this full-body circuit will get the blood pumping to all the right places and keep you physically and mentally on track with your goals.
Watch the video above to see how you can turn virtually any car into a traveling workout station and hit your legs core, chest, and arms no matter where the road takes you.
Of course, this workout is easily transferred to a gym as well. For the curtsy lunge to lateral leg raise, all you’ll need is something sturdy to hold onto. You could even do it freestanding, if your balance permits. The incline pushup can be done on any box or bench—the higher, the easier. Same goes for the dips, which can be made more difficult by extending your legs. And for the Bulgarian split squat, any bench or knee-high box will do.
