Rumors of the Italian Stallion’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Sylvester Stallone took to social media to ensure the world he is, in fact, still alive, after an internet hoax claimed the 71-year-old actor had succumbed to prostate cancer.
“Please ignore this stupidity… Alive and well and happy and healthy… Still punching!” Stallone wrote.
“It’s so great to be back from the Dead!!!” he added in a later post.
The actor’s young brother, musician Frank Stallone, also used Twitter to shoot down the rumours.
“What kind of sick demented cruel mind thinks of things like this to post? People like this are mentally deranged and don’t deserve a place in society,” he wrote. “I’m very protective of my older brother and I don’t find any humour in this fake post today on my brother’s demise. It upset my 96 yr old mother so I’m doubly upset.”
For anyone paying attention, it might have been clear that the Rocky star is pretty much the opposite of dead. (We’re also pretty sure the Eagles’ Super Bowl win added at least ten years to the man’s life.) Stallone has been popping up everywhere recently, from NBC cryfest This Is Us to Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 2, and still has Creed 2 on the docket later this year. The news about Stallone hasn’t always been good; in November, the actor denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl on the set of Over The Top in 1986.
These days, Stallone — again, still alive — spends his time being so pumped for the upcoming showdown between Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Johnson and Florian Munteanu’s Vito Drago that he’s been posting fan art on his Instagram account.
For anyone still worried, rest assured that even though Rocky Balboa might be a bit slower in the ring these days, he can still pump 45kg over his head.
Even if he does need a nap afterwards.
