Walter Tay (@walkwithwalter) isn’t your typical fit guy. Together with his family, he runs a hawker stall called Father & Son selling carrot cake and fried kway teow. Yet, he still lives a dedicated fitness lifestyle and sculpted his ripped physique despite the challenges of living and eating like a hawker.

“It definitely takes a lot of dedication to balance fitness into a hawker lifestyle. And as the only fit person in my daily environment, I must be very clear why I live a fitness lifestyle to stay on track. I believe the fitness industry will only continue to grow and I see opportunities to be created from being fit.”

And of course exercise specific questions, reps sets, rests, workout splits, etc.

8 / 9 How do you stay motivated?

After many years of living a fitness lifestyle, I learnt to be truthful to myself. The only person on earth that we can’t lie to, is ourselves. I’m aware of my own emotions and actual physical condition. When I truly feel tired or in bad condition, I’ll just cut off the workout and review my routine on the macro so I hit the wall less.

Pure laziness rarely happens, but when I do feel it, I’ll remind myself of my path and I’m accountable to people who believe in me. There aren’t any alternatives to a good physique other than exercising.
