It’s hard enough for your average dude to achieve the god-like physique of Chris Hemsworth. For Bobby Holland Hanton, it’s a full-time job.
The Australian stunt man has doubled for the god of thunder across two Thor movies and a trio of Avengers films, as well as Hemsworth’s lesser known roles like The Huntsman: Winter’s War and In The Heart of the Sea. It sounds like a cushy gig, until you realize how much effort Chris Hemsworth puts into looking like Chris Hemsworth.
“Thor is definitely the most difficult character that we have to get in shape for,” Hanton — who has also worked on HBO’s Game of Thrones and doubled for two of Hollywood’s non-Australian Chrises, Pine and Evans — told news.com.au. “Chris is already huge. He’s much bigger than me naturally, so I have to train twice a day.”
The marathon filming schedule between last year’s Thor: Ragnarok and the double-filming of Avengers 3 and 4 saw Hanton maintaining his Hemsworth body for a year and a half. This meant two-a-days in the gym, and a restrictive diet that the stunt man stuck to alongside the actor.
