The Sport & Fitness is about Calm mind and Violent bodies, the reverse rarely Works. What is #PhysicalTransformation and How? I did ask this question myself and was searching answers during one of the Wet days of Dec 2015. Midlife crisis had taken over toll on body & mind. The person who is so found of clothes was not able to fit into outfit due to bulky body which weighed 89Kg full of fat & calories. Least to talk about #endurance #agile #nimble. Only option I had, was to put on BHAG goals for self and work towards that. Whilst I was searching for some sport activity to indulge in, I got introduce to #dragonboat through one of my colleague. Then when #Austchampaddleclub happened where #myfitnessjourney got a kick. As I could see the path but wanted ultra #headstart and that came in the form of #milkshakers. A #bootcamp which is been run by one of the fellow club member who has been instrumental in #transforminglives of many fitness enthusiasts and fellow #paddlers. If #austchampaddleclub is a ladder, #milkshake_workout_ is those strong feet to climb that ladder. As great Emil Zatopek” once said – An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head. That’s what my journey is been which is still on after one year of #hardwork, #determination and #focus. I am sitting on 73 Kg since past 4 months, which took me an year full of disciplined approach fueled with couple of #Spartanraces, #milkshakes, #fitnesscamps and #gym #workouts 3-4 times a week. It took bit longer for me as I wanted a stronger foundation without any supplements. I am firm believer, practice which is sustainable. What is more important is the #Journey which I took and enjoying. As #fitness is not destination but it’s a way of life. Story of transforming my mind and body. I was just your average desk-bound guy before my colleague got me into dragonboating. When I started, I was surprised I was really unfit and couldn’t even paddle 30 strokes! That was a wake-up call. I never gave up and did all the water and land trainings. I now enjoy paddling, the regimen and I love my Austcham team who are fun and encouraging. It really makes a difference when you have friends doing a sport together. I’ve lost 7kg and my body fat dropped from 25% to 18%. My water time trial improved from nothing to being among the top 10 of the men. I’m really the most fit I’ve been, ever! Juggling between the roles of a father, caregiver and money generating machine at 40 yrs old can be daunting. Hope the following 2 tips that predominately help to maintain my weight between 59-62 kg for the past 20 years, inspires. 1. Nothing and no one else can motivate you to make the choice to live healthily except yourself. You must tell yourself it is worth it. Give your health top priority. On average, we have only about 32,000 days on earth. Make your stay a more enjoyable one with a healthier body and mind. 2. Pick a physical activity you like and not just follow any fad – Be it belly dance, line dancing etc It has to be something you look forward doing it. Try to pick something you can do it on your own so that you are less dependent on someone else. For me, I love the freedom of jogging as it brings me to places. I will jog about 30 mins and do 30 mins of calisthenics exercises at the fitness corners, 3x / week. When I miss my workout, I will make it up by waking up early over the weekend. There's this saying that I liked when I was really young, "Do something that your future self will thank you for". That was tattooed on my mind ever since. I started trying to be fit in high school doing push ups and sit ups everyday. I was slim to begin with, but I wanted to be more well-built. When I joined Austcham Paddle Club in 2015, the added training, specific workout regimen and proper diet recommended by our coach really helped in getting me to the fitness level I was aiming for. With the team, I also became very competitive, and that drives me to do more so I don’t give up my seat in the boat. This really inspires me and keeps me on my toes. 3 years later, tons of medals, the fittest I've ever been. Today is a special day. We had our Body Transformation Challenge celebration and the big reveal of our own individual shot. I used to be over 135kgs and lost over 42KGS! If I used to feel tired easily and can’t every walk for Long distance. Now I feel simply unbelievable! Completed 21km and 30km Marathon that I had never dream off. During this challenge, I was challenged both mentally and physically again. Feel so good about my results after 8 weeks. Not only for the results and also the fact that I gave 110% every single day. Totally worth it. Thank you @amyingmin for being with support and workout buddy for the whole 8 weeks.
