The kettlebell shouldn’t be reserved only for the swing. Add it to classic exercises like the pushup, deadlift, and row to make them instantly harder.
“You may have done these moves hundreds of times before, but you won’t be as efficient with a kettlebell in your hands,” says Todd Durkin, C.S.C.S., author of The IMPACT! Body Plan. That’s because the bell’s unique shape distributes weight differently than a dumbbell or barbell. You’ll expend more energy with each rep, he explains.
Try it for yourself with this challenge from Durkin. Start a stopwatch and perform 10 kettlebell sumo deadlifts, 10 pushups with your hands on the kettlebells, and 10 kettlebell bent-over rows in a row. That’s 1 round. Do 3 rounds total.
Durkin crushed it in just 2 minutes and 16 seconds. What was your time?
