Q What's your secret to looking fabulous?
A I look healthy at best, due to eating healthily and regular exercise.
Q Was there ever a time when you weren't fit and fab?
A I was 78kg about a year ago and my work clothes did not fit very well. It dawned on me that I had to make some positive changes to my lifestyle and be more selective in what I ate.
So I signed up for the Standard Chartered marathon and started to run 10km to 15km every day for three months.
By the time I ran in the marathon, I had lost 6kg. After the event, I thought it was not sustainable for me to continue running on a daily basis as I could risk injury.
I went for personal training sessions, which helped me lose another 4kg, tone up and increase my metabolism rate without having to run every day.
Q What is your diet like?
A Breakfast: A glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice and one of these choices - oats with fruits, berries and chia seeds; steamed chicken breast; tomato wholemeal bread sandwich; or salad with cut fruit and two hard-boiled eggs with Greek yogurt dressing.
Lunch: Mixed brown rice with vegetable, fish and eggs; or salad with fruit and Greek yogurt dressing.
Dinner: Chinese-style soup or mixed brown rice with vegetables, meat and eggs.
Snacks: Bananas, apples, Chinese pears and hard-boiled eggs.
Q What are your indulgences?
A Plenty. The chief culprit is alcohol. I try to limit myself to a couple of drinks only on Friday nights.
I am a foodie and I enjoy Singapore hawker food a lot, such as char kway teow, laksa, satay and Hokkien mee. I usually indulge during the weekends. It is important to have cheat days so that you have something to look forward to after an entire week of clean eating. The key is moderation.
Q What do you do to relax?
A I feel that working out is a form of relaxation. Having a great game of tennis or trying to clock in a fast run helps to relieve work stress.
Q What are the three most important things in your life?
A Health, family and friends.
Q Would you go for plastic surgery?
A If it is to address a medical condition, then yes.
Q Do you think you're sexy?
A I don't think so.
Q What are your favourite and least favourite parts of your body?
A I like my legs. The least favourite parts are my right shoulder and wrist as they are prone to injury due to years of playing tennis and golf.
Q How important is it for you to keep up with your fitness routine?
A Very important. Unless I am sick, injured or have a work emergency, I will not skip my training sessions.
Q What's the biggest sacrifice you have had to make to get to your current size today?
A Learning to eat in moderation and limiting my cheat meals because food is the fourth most important thing in my life.
Q What do your family and friends say about your active lifestyle?
A They have been supportive. They generally say I look better with my current lifestyle.
Q How extensive is your collection of sports-related paraphernalia?
A Let's just say I do not have to buy any workout or golf attire for the next two years.
