My family has a history of Type-2 diabetes. Is there something wrong with what we eat?

Type-2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes. Also called NIDDM (non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus), it’s generally caused by poor usage of insulin or, the body is not producing enough insulin for its daily needs. Obesity has been shown to be the leading factor of insulin resistance, a result of leading a sedentary lifestyle and excessive calorie intake. Individual diet meal plans play a great role in Type-2 diabetes management and patients should not hesitate to seek professional diet consultation if he or she is concerned about their own health.
