Q:
Are dark chocolate M&M's good for me?

Isn’t it enough that they don’t melt in your hand? Here’s what you need to know: While all dark chocolate contains disease-fighting flavonoids, the actual amount depends on its cacao concentration. In the case of M&M’s, it’s 40 per cent, which seems pretty good until you consider that most dark chocolate bars hover around the 60 per cent mark and a few, such as Lindt Excellence, hit 99. In theory, you could compensate for the low cacao percentage by eating more M&M’s, except then, you’d also be sucking down a lot of sugar too. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a flavonoid-filled treat, stick with true dark chocolate, not candy-coated imitators.
