A. BLUE
Blue exudes tranquility. “You gravitate towards things that are calm, peaceful and fresh,” says Barney Bishop, scent expert and founder of the men’s fragrance website Fragrantmoments.net.

Your scent
These crowd- pleasing fragrances can be sporty or sophisticated. They often incorporate nautical reminders, including aquatic plants, and watery fruits and vegetables.

B. ORANGE
The colour orange symbolises lightness and happiness. To others, you’re bright, creative and enthusiastic. You want to smell good but don’t want your scent to be your calling card.

Lively citrus notes evoke sunshine. These fragrances are light and fresh. “In the warmer months, they’re the smells you want around you,” Bishop says. “You can wear these anytime, anywhere.”

C. RED
A choice of red signifies strength, desire and confidence. "The red guy is very self-assured in his abilities and personality. He’s a leader,” Bishop says. If you’re drawn to red, a fragrance that’s equally strong will suit you well.

Your scent
Bold, with notes of pepper and spice. Their assertiveness, Bishop says, makes them great for cooler climates, when you want to spice it up a bit.

D. GREEN
Green is all about freshness, vibrancy and rejuvenation. It shows you are quietly confident. You’re known for action more than words. “While the red guy wants all to know he’s a leader,” says Bishop, “the green man leads by example.”

Your scent
This category often includes notes of geranium, tomato leaf, basil and bamboo grass. They’re easy to wear and less sweet than the everyday citrus or orange scents.
