The trick is to zap your zit at night and then go to sleep, says Dr Adnan Nasir, director of dermatology at Wake Research Associates.
Here’s how: Soak a washcloth in hot water and apply pressure to the spot for one minute. The moist heat should melt the sebum clogging your pores.
Next, apply 10 per cent benzoyl peroxide cream, available over the counter, to kill bacteria and dry out the site. Finally, cover your zit with a bandage.

This ensures the peroxide works all night. When you wake up, your blemish will be 50 to 75 per cent healed, if it’s not totally gone, says Dr Nasir.
