Pushups are a classic exercise, and a great way to work your entire upper-body. But sometimes standard pushups get boring, and you crave some variation. That’s where this circuit from trainer Andy Speer, creator of the Men’s Health Anarchy Arms workout, comes in.
You’ll use two dumbbells to mix things up with your pushups and challenge your overall fitness. Watch the video below or read below to see how this three-exercise circuit is done. Add it to your regular upper-body workouts to smoke your arms and chest, and build some serious muscle.
Pushup on vertical dumbbells: Place your hands on top of two vertical dumbbells, and do 10 reps of these.
Pushup on ends of vertical dumbbells: Stand two dumbbells up so they’re vertical, and grip the edge of the top of them. Do 10 reps of these.
Dumbbell pushup: Lay the dumbbells flat on the ground and hold onto the middle part. Do 10 reps of these.
That’s one round. Perform five to 10 rounds to feel the burn in your chest, biceps, and triceps. Try to do each round without taking a break.
If you continue to do this circuit regularly, it’s fun to see how much you’ve progressed. If you can only do five rounds the first time you try it, keep at it, and soon you’ll be able to add more in. The best part? You don’t even have to go to the gym if you don’t have time—you can do this workout wherever you are.
