Q:
What makes the iPhone's touchscreen so special?

advertisement
The iPhone, along with the LG Prada phone, uses capacitive touchscreen technology while most other touchscreen phones use
resistive technology. Capacitive screens respond only to finger contact, feature multi-touch function and are generally more durable, whereas the latter can be used with a stylus. Specifically, the iPhone’s projected capacitive technology allows the device to detect your finger from as far as 2mm away. This enables a more intuitive user interface as well as a brighter display compared to resistive screens, which have a resistive film layer that tends to block light.
