Boot camps have their roots in the tough initiation phase of military training. In the fitness industry, it’s a form of group training. What you can get out of it depends on the instructor and the programme that you’re in. There needs to be a balance between progression and variety. The programme should change every month or so to keep you progressing. If it’s well designed, you should be able to get good fat-loss benefits from a boot camp. However, due to the lack of heavy weights, boot camps are not ideal for people trying to get strong.
