Q:
Should I do weight training before or after a run?

advertisement

We advise you to do them on separate days. Weight training exhausts and tears down your muscles so it isn’t recommended to go for interval runs immediately after that, as this manner of training is meant to push your body. It’s counterproductive to do them on the same day. Similarly, long runs break down your body quite a bit, and if you couple this with a weights session, it could hamper your recovery times. However, if you’re pressed for time, hit the gym first. Just remember that you won’t be able to give your 100 per cent with both activities.
