My girlfriend has celebrity hunk posters all over her bedroom. Does this mean she’ll never be satisfied with me?

Personally, I never think it’s a good sign for any girl over the age of 16 to idolise people who don’t know they exist. It’s just something about, uh, a sense of reality that most people acquire as they mature. But, assuming you like everything else about your girlfriend, you really should bring this up.

Ask her what it is she likes about these stars, and what they bring to her life. Tell her you want to understand what is obviously a significant part of her dreams – but that it also makes you wonder if she feels something is missing in her life, something that you can’t provide her. If she hedges, come right out and tell her it makes you a bit uncomfortable and insecure – and should you have a reason to be? Hopefully she’ll do the right thing and tone it down.
