Q:
How do I train so I can do one-armed chin-ups?

The one-armed chin-up became a goal of mine simply because I wanted to show that it could be done. The most that I have seen is seven from a former national team rock climber whose personal best is 13. I tried several training methods but the one that works best focuses on strength building in the form of weighted chin-ups.

With weights, some days I could do 12, and other days I could do six or just three. At the end of eight weeks, I was able to perform 12 reps with 12kg, 6 reps with 32kg, 3 reps with 50kg and 1 rep with 70kg. All this in addition to my own body weight of 80kg. With that, I was finally able to perform the task – with one arm.
