Q:
How can I prevent scars?

advertisement

Minimise the trauma with quick action and an antibiotic cream. Scars result when the layers of epidermis that forms new skin is damaged and can no longer produce cells, says Dr Michael Mann, of the Columbia University college of physicians and surgeons. Infections can do the same kind of harm, even with smaller cuts.

If the cut is deep enough, stitches will help that cell-producing layer hang together. But for everyday cuts, your best bet is an over-the-counter antibiotic cream.
