Q:
How can I adjust quickly to different time zones?

advertisement

Unfortunately, there is no sure-fire way to avoid jet lag especially if you travel across time zones on long-haul flights, but the common denominator here is the lack of sleep and melatonin. Max out your sleep about eight hours before you fly. For those who can’t sleep on planes, see your doctor for a prescription to temporarily help you hunker down on board.

Once you arrive, assuming it’s bright and early and you’ve just  been on a plane for 15 hours, nap for two hours, shower, get outdoors for some sun and sleep early (local time). Your body will slowly adjust to these  patterns and though the fatigue rarely goes away immediately, this pattern will speed up the adjustment process.
