Can slow music really help me de-stress?

Yep. Put on some Mozart or Beethoven, and kick back. “Classical music...appears to be most effective at soothing stress,” says Dr P. Murali Doraiswamy, director of the mental fitness laboratory at the Duke University School of Medicine. “The tempo of these compositions can induce brainwave changes and reset emotional switches that trigger the release of pleasure-producing chemicals.” If classical music isn’t your cup of tea, try songs that can literally put a smile on your face. “Your brain is associative, and when you like a song, your brain puts a happy tag on it when it’s filed away,” says Dr Doraiswamy. “Hearing the song again brings back happy memories.”
