Can diets stop being effective?

If you’re talking about a fad diet you’ve just tried, yes, they can do more harm in the long run other than becoming ineffective. But if you take on a diet like the Mediterranean or Vegan diet, which may be for life, it could lead to better health. In any diet that you follow, you need to know how to compensate effectively for missing nutrients – for instance vegans don’t consume dairy produce, but they eat more greens, nuts, seeds and dried fruits.
